So that the liquid-solid or gas-solid mixture fluid is forced through the porous filter media, which will be trapped in suspended solids, in order to achieve separation of the mixture, it is an operating unit belonging to the hydrodynamic processes.

Filtration method according to the driving force of the process can be divided into:

1.Gravity Filtration the driving force is the operation of the suspension itself hydrostatic liquid column, usually no more than 50kPa, this method applies only to deal with particle size, less content filter pulp;

2.Pressure Filtration using a pump or other means to filter pulp pressure, can produce higher operating pressure, generally up to 500kPa above, can effectively deal with difficult to separate filter pulp;

3.Vacuum Filtration the bottom side of the filter medium is evacuated, the pressure difference generated usually not more than 85kPa, the filter applied to the slurry containing the mineral particles or crystalline particles, and easy to wash the filter cake;

4.Centrifugal Filtration centrifugal force operating pressure filter pulp layer is generated, easy to wash the filter cake containing less liquid for crystal fiber materials and the resulting filter cake material.
