The width of the polyester screen printing mesh is from 115 cm [45 inches] and 165 cm [65 inches]. Nylon mesh includes nylon single mesh and nylon double mesh.
Nylon mesh material: 100% nylon mesh. The nylon mesh has an opening ranging from 7 microns to 2000 microns. The width is from 1 meter to more than 3 meters. There are many factors that need to be paid attention to during the printing process of screen printing. There is still doubt about the choice of nylon or polyester fabric.
Polyester mesh has several excellent properties such as solvent resistance, high temperature resistance, water resistance and chemical resistance. In addition, when subjected to severe external pressure, its physical properties are stable and its stretchability is low. However, polyester has poor abrasion resistance compared to nylon.
Due to their dimensional stability, polyester meshes are suitable for applications that require critical control of the registration, such as printing on a printed circuit board (PCB). The disadvantage of nylon mesh is that it has high stretchability and low tension retention ability. Therefore, after a period of time, the net stretch is reduced and the sieve plate is relaxed to cause a decrease in the level of precision. Therefore, it is not suitable for printing on a PCB.
Screen printing is a wet process and moisture absorption is an important consideration. For example, nylon absorbs up to 5% moisture and loses 10-20% strength when wet, 26-40% elongation before breaking, and polyester elongation is 19-23% smaller.
The above two nylon mesh or polyester can be selected when selecting on screen printing mesh fabric. Nylon mesh can only be used when printing on irregular surfaces or on three-dimensional objects (such as bottles) that may require these characteristics.
