Do You Know Mesh Screen Printing Limitations
Mesh screen has a unique printing advantage, but it is not perfect, itself has its limitations.
Firstly, the productivity of mesh screen printing is low, and It does not achieve the same productivity as other printing methods. There is still a gap in the degree of automation of screen printing equipment compared to the high degree of automation of offset printing, rotogravure and flexographic printing equipment. Second, the pollution of mesh screen printing is more serious. Finally, the mesh screen printing process is cumbersome, using more consumables, time-consuming and labor-intensive.
First of all, mesh screen printing only print simple graphics with thick lines, can not print beautifully-graded pictures.The high definition of the pattern is not as good as the offset,and the color registration is not as good as the color printing. Secondly, the screen printing factory technical level is relatively low. More than half of them are mainly manual operations. The printing speed is not as good as the machine printing. The digital direct plate making machine and the large-format multi-color automatic printing machine are still blank.
The technical dependence on the print shop is high. As labor costs increase, the cost will be higher than the cost of machine printing in large quantities.
In general, mesh screen printing has four disadvantages :
(1) Printing speed is much lower than other printing methods;
(2) The printed lines are thick and cannot be printed with very fine patterns;
(3) The printing level is poor, the highlight part is not easy to print out, and the dark part is easy to paste;
(4) Low screen printing power
But the advantage of mesh screen printing far exceeds the limitations, which has the following advantages:
(1) The plate making and printing methods are simple, the equipment investment is small, and the cost is low.
(2) It is not limited by the type, size and shape of the substrate. Screen printing can use inks and coatings of different solvents to adapt to the printing of different types of substrates, and because the screen version is soft, the printing pressure is small, and the printing of curved surfaces and fragile materials can be performed.
(3) The printing ink layer is thick, the color is bright, the three-dimensional feeling and the hiding power are strong. It can be used for printing of anti-counterfeiting inks such as temperature change and fluorescence.
(4) It is not limited by inks and thinners, and can print printed matter with high light resistance, and can perform liquid crystal printing, magnetic printing, and foam printing.
