Grid counting is the choice of polyester printing mesh suitable for your industry. Polyester printing mesh can be applied in the garment industry and can also be applied in the ceramic industry. No matter which industry you are applying in, you need to choose or first consider the grid count of the polyester printed mesh. How to use the grid count.
Maishi is a manufacturer that operates polyester-printed mesh for many years. There is a wealth of experience in the grid counting of polyester printing mesh. Maishi's senior technical master told the following:
Screens of 25 to 40 mesh are ideal for flash or flash inks because they contain particles that cannot pass through finer mesh.
A 60 mesh count allows a large amount of ink to be deposited. It is usually used for numbers and letters on sports jerseys.
When performing thermal transfer, printing thick underlays and using certain special inks (such as puff inks), 80 to 86 mesh numbers are usually used.
Screens of 110 to 160 mesh are the most versatile and are the most commonly used screens in screen printing. The screen at the bottom of the mesh count spectrum reduces the heavier ink deposits and is ideal for printing underlays or printing bold colors on dark fabrics. At the higher end of the grid count spectrum, you can print more detailed images while maintaining good ink deposition.
The 180 to 200-mesh count is ideal for printing some detail images in light-colored inks on dark fabrics.
Screens of 230 to 280 mesh will provide a softer feel; however, because they allow for shallower ink deposition, prints created with these fine screens will not be as bright or vivid.
It is also worth noting that when choosing the right size of the polyester printing mesh grid, the same density of screen will hold different amounts of emulsion, and the lower number of screens will remain more.
